Catherine L. Galasso, 95, of Philadelphia, passed away on Feb. 22, 2015.
Catherine (Kay) is survived by many nieces and nephews; Janet Rizzo, Rosemarie (Bill) Szlachta, Fred (Joyce) Vianale, Roseann (Joe) Haggerty, Frank Galasso, Lois Jarosz, and Barbara (Steve) Mahan. Also, four generations of great nieces and nephews.
Viewing Thurs., Feb. 26, from 10-11AM at the Church of the Incarnation, 240 Main St., Mantua, NJ 08051. Funeral Mass at 11AM. Interment private.

This is Catherine Galasso, Aunt Kay to just about everyone. She passed away yesterday. She was 95 years old. Until about 2 months ago, she was living on her own and enjoying the little(big) things in life like dancing with her great-grandniece and great-grandnephews. Just after the new year, she began battling a laundry list of aliments, fighting them with the stubbornness of a true Calabrese. She would make progress against one problem only to be confronted with another. Sadly, God called her home early yesterday morning.
I, so far have neglected to mention that Aunt Kay beat cancer twice in her life, the last time being shortly after she tuned 80 years old. Through all of this she maintained her dignity and pride, along with a wry sense of humor. Even through her voice had weakened to a low rasp, she could still manage a strong laugh whenever something struck her as funny, a small testament to the ability of joyfulness to be a weapon against the ravages of time. I wish that I had half the strength that was stored in her tiny figure.
God Bless You Aunt Kay! You touched many lives, and you are now beyond the pain, sorrow, and confusion of this life. May you be renewed, and may you join all those from that glorious generation who have gone before you. You are part of my earliest memories and Julianne Kay Beamen will bear your name proudly. You will not be forgotten.
John 16:22 - Therefore you now have sorrow, but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and your joy no one will take from you.
